What is an elevator pitch?
Introducing yourself and making new contacts form the base for all kinds of networking. To do that, you need an “elevator pitch”, i.e. a very short presentation of what you and/or your organization does and to what use that can be to others. Imagine yourself entering an elevator where one person already stands. You would like that person to say; “If you have a few minutes, I’d like to hear more”, before you reach your destination.
An example of an elevator pitch
“Bottlenose dolphins depend heavily on algae for survival. Having just graduated from Coho University in microbiology, I’ll be one of three researchers helping to prolong the dolphins’ life span and population through this important research.” (35 words)
